A quaint, hidden course...

Laurel Hill Golf Course opened on August 6, 1977, and has hosted nearly a million rounds of golf since that time. It was the creation of the late Harvey Granger (1909-1997), who moved to the Rogue Valley in the early 60’s after farming in Fremont, CA for thirty years.

In addition to his ranch in the Applegate, he acquired part of the Chavner Thompson property near Exit 40 off I-5, with the idea that a portion of it could be turned into a golf course.

Some years earlier, he and his brother had built a small 9-hole public course near Hayward, CA, and Harvey felt that a similar course on this site located between Grants Pass and Medford would be a welcome asset to golf in southern Oregon. With the assistance an architect and several stout-hearted friends, the course became a reality during the years of 1975-77, with a state-of-the-art irrigation system, an elegant rustic clubhouse, and nine challenging holes of golf.

Laurel Hill owes its popularity to two factors: it is challenging enough for expert players, and short enough not to intimidate beginners. Secondly, for 35 years we’ve been devoted to providing good golf along with good food and drink in a friendly atmosphere, at a reasonable price.

The course is open to the public year-round with a small membership. For most of the year, we have an all-day rate of $15 for men (on Thursdays) and women (on Mondays).

In addition to challenging golf, the course has great natural beauty, and the many giant oak, fir and pine trees give it a cathedral-like quality, and the abundant shade helps to offset the summer heat.
